The lights dim, the screen flickers to life....

There's nothing like seeing a movie in the theatre.

I've enjoyed movies for many, many years.  From the early days of seeing Disney flicks to the latest from Hollywood.

The first film I remember seeing is Snow White, when my dad took us when we were little kids.  It was a few years later, but Star Wars was the catalyst for my obsession with the movies. Needless to say, Star Wars was a 126 minute escape for me and I enjoy replicating that feeling watching films in the theatre and at home.

I've been keeping track of the movies I've seen in the theatre since 1984. You can see the entire list of them in the Movies Seen section. I don't get a chance to go see as many as I would like, as movie goers now a days are very rude. Between the cell phone, talking and general pain its usually easier to concentrate on the movie at home. I'm a serious movie goer - don't get up, don't talk, don't smack your popcorn, etc, etc.

Of course, it helps to have a nice home theatre to watch movies. I originally bought laserdiscs and stayed almost completely out of tape (I only own a handful of movies on VHS). I started buying DVD's when there were less than 30 titles available - Best Buy only had a single 4 foot rack to display them on. You can check out all of my DVDs in the My DVDs section. I'll pick one every once in a while and make it my Featured DVD

Now with the purchase of my Playstation 3, I've moved up to Blu-Ray for all my new DVD purchases. When done right, the HD versions of these movies really are fun to watch.

Still think movies on TV are the real thing?  Confused between Full Frame and Widescreen? Check out a complete Widescreen vs. Full Screen analysis in my Widescreen Info section.

Since I like movies, I obviously watch the Academy Awards (Oscars) every year. The last couple of years I've gone to see all 5 nominated films in a single day at the AMC theatre chain. You'll find some comments and other information in my Academy Awards section.

Grab that popcorn and look at the movies section!
